Portland provides clients with people, processes and systems to optimise their internal procurement and supply chain organisations and drive value for their businesses. Our model is designed to integrate closely with internal client teams and operates as an extension of their internal function, under a multi-year contract.

Client expenditure directly managed by Portland is in the order of $1B and growing rapidly, across more than 10 master categories and 40 sub-categories.

Our managed services team provides three major services to clients:

Category Management:

Our specialist team manage specified (typically non-core) spend categories. Portland’s responsibilities typically include sourcing, category management, demand management, supplier management and supplier development.

Portland also takes responsibility for delivering results such as customer service, cost reduction, risk management and improved supplier performance. We deliver the services using onsite resources and teams located at our offices.

Services delivered by Portland are enabled by our industry leading technology and systems, including Ariba, web-based reporting and intelligent spend analysis systems.
 

Process & Systems Support:

We provide clients with process and systems support across the entire procurement process.

We help clients to optimise their existing processes and systems and procurement operations by providing advice and access to best-in-class people, processes and systems where their existing infrastructure is not able to perform the job.

We can deploy for clients a combination of leading procurement systems with best-practice processes developed by our team over a number of years and across multiple industries. These processes and systems are run by our operations team and include spend analytics, market performance reporting, supplier performance management, eSourcing, supplier pre-qualification, category management, contract management, demand management and benefits tracking.
 

Resource Augmentation:

Our resource augmentation service provides clients with skills and resources they do not possess internally.
Our expert resources can be provided to help clients meet their goals either for short or longer-term assignments, typically to fill gaps resulting from attrition, extended special leave commitments, backlogs and peak workloads.
